RETIREMENT COMMUNITY CHAPLAINCY

I am the Revd. Sue Matthews and I have the privilege of extending pastoral care to our many rest-home communities here in Havelock North.  I have a passion for the elder-care sector and will happily wave a flag for their visibility and wellbeing.

I am committed to supporting both residents, staff and families in this unique context.

No Retirement Home or Village stands beyond our care...

Whether someone is admitted for respite care or for permanent residency or perhaps they are living in independent villa's, apartments: they are entitled and welcome to receive the spiritual care that we are called to offer.

Waiapu House

We are blessed to have the spiritual care of the former Anglican Care rest home.

This wonderful community also houses the Chapel of the Good Shepherd - a John Scott building, it was consecrated by the Bishop of Waiapu in 1965 on June the 5th - Pentecost weekend.

This is the beating heart of the rest home for all members of its community.

ABOUT US

A Church dedicated to Saint Luke has stood on the site since 1874- it met its challenges then, as it seeks to meet the challenges of the present day.  In gratitude for the past we walk backwards into the future - learning the lessons of the past.
